ELDORA-Beverly A. "Hap" Van Sickle, 72, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Thursday, April 25, 2002, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Following cremation, memorial services were held on Tuesday, April 30, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora, with Pastor Corey Larson and Ascension Chapter 158 of the Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Order of the Eastern Star or to First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Hap was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Butte, Mont., to Arch and Helen Carhill Skinner. She moved to Perry as a young girl and after the death of her father, she was raised by her stepfather, Merle E. Robinson. She graduated from Perry High School in 1947. On July 20, 1947, she married Jack "Buddy" Kinder in Perry. He died in 1952 and Hap then married Vernon "Jack" Van Sickle on Jan. 6, 1954, in Perry. They lived most of their married life in Eldora. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Ascension Chapter No. 158 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Eldora women's bowling league being inducted into the Eldora Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed fishing with her husband and E-NP High School students and athletics.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; two daughters, Cheryl and her husband, William Cox, of Ottumwa, and Myra and her husband, Ronald Huff, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Donald Kinder and his wife, Yvonne, of Eldora; a sister, Dorothy Jean Skinner of Perry; a brother, Donald Skinner and his wife, Barbara, of Clayton, Ind.; and six grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Buddy, her parents and her stepfather.
