WELLSBURG-Dena Harms, 97, of Wellsburg, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington. Services were held Saturday, April 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Wellsburg, with burial in the church cemetery.

Dena was born May 10, 1904, in Wellsburg, to Evert and Stena Sweater Ross. She was raised on a farm near Wellsburg and attended a country school in Grundy County. On Feb. 12, 1928, she married Ebe Harms in Grundy County. They farmed near Ackley for seven years and then moved to Wellsburg. She worked as a housekeeper for many individuals in the area. Her husband died in 1948 and she continued to live in Wellsburg until going to the Arlington nursing home four years ago. She enjoyed crocheting and giving items as gifts.

She is survived by a daughter, Marian Everts of Wellsburg; a son, Elmer Harms and wife, Donna, of Delta; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, LeRoy; and one granddaughter in infancy.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home of Wellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.
