ACKLEY-Dorothy V. Wessels, 93, of Ackley, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at the Maple Manor Care Center in Aplington. Services will be held Wednesday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley, with burial in the church cemetery. Father Jim Miller will officiate.
Dorothy was born June 10, 1908, in Geneva, to Charles and Clara Yenter Horner. She attended Geneva schools and on Sept. 22, 1936, she married Roy Wessels at Waterloo. She had been employed in Ackley at the Tot and Teen, Dentel's and Tegens. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley, American Legion Auxiliary, Altar Society, Garden Club and St. Mary's Guild.
She is survived by three sons, Jack and his wife, Marlys, Jim, and Joe and his wife, Angie, all of Ackley; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Heather Crotty; and a brother, Charlie Horner.
Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley, is in charge of arrangements.
