DEATH OF BROTHER OF MENZO JONES
Funeral services were held from the Jewell Congregational church Monday afternoon of this week for a brother of Mr. Menzo Jones of this place. Mr. Frank Jones, who died at his home at Bancroft, Neb., Friday of last week. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Darley, at 2:30 P. M. and and the body was laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery.
Frank Jones was born in Manchester, Wis., November 29, 1859, and he died at his home at Bancroft, Neb. August 29, 1919, at the age of 59 years and 9 months.
He came to Iowa with his parents when only ten years of age, settling at Jewell. Here he spent the days of his young manhood. In 1887 he went to Nebraska, where he has since resided. In 1883 he was married to Miss Roena Palmer, to which union was born five children, all of whom, with the mother, survive to mourn loss of a faithful Christian father and husband. The children are: Fred A. Jones of Ruskin, Neb., J. N. Jones of Waterbury, Neb., A. Raymond Jones of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Upton Collinson of Carthage, S. D., and Miss Charlotte Jones of Bancroft, Neb.
He also leaves behind him five sisters and one brother, Menzo Jones of Jewell.
He was the first one of his family or of his father's family to pass away.
Mr. Jones united with the M. E. church when 24 years of age. The decision made at that time in regard to the Christian faith and experience were his constant joy and comfort in his last illness. He manifested constantly the patience and fortitude of a true disciple of the Master and when Jesus called "come up higher" he not only heard the voice but saw the Christ waiting to welcome him. His reward is truly according to his faith and he invites us to meet him over there.
