OBITUARY.
Rasmus Johnson was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, April 4, 1861, and died at Jewell, Iowa, Feb 24, 1905, at the age of 43 years, 10 months and 20 days.
At the age of four, he moved with his parents to Livingston county, Illinois. On July 31, 1884, he was married to Miss Lena Olson. On account of failing health he moved to Cuming county, Nebraska, in the spring of 1886. He engaged in farming there for seven years and then removed to Hardin county, Iowa. In the spring of 1900, he moved with his family to Jewell, Iowa, where he has lived ever since.
About a year ago he went to a hospital in Chicago and had an operation performed for some stomach trouble. He regained his health and felt well until December, 1904, when he was again taken sick. He was then advised to go to Chicago, but nothing could be done for him, so he was brought home and died eighteen hours after reaching here.
From his early youth he had been a devoted christian and always believed God as his savior.
He leaves a wife, five children, a mother, two brothers and one sister, all of them being present at the funeral. One child has gone before him to the Land of Rest.
The funeral was held at the Lutheran church last Friday at one o'clock conducted by Rev. C. J. Eastvold, after which interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
