MRS. LARSON PASSED AWAY
Last Friday afternoon, February 19, at six o'clock, Mrs. Nels Larson quietly passed away from this life of sickness and pain, dying at her home in the north part of Jewell after about 6 years of almost total invalidism. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the Christian church, conducted by Rev. Cole and the remains were laid away to their last long rest in the cemetery here.
Karen Sophia Nelson born in Gisselfeld, Denmark, October 2nd, 1841, and died in Jewell at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 17 days. On October 1st, 1869, she was united in marriage to Nels Larson and to this union was born two boys and two girls, three of whom survive and were present at the funeral services Monday. The children who survive to mourn the loss of their mother are Miss Anna Larson, who resided in Jewell with her mother, Will Larson residing on the farm west of Jewell, and Nels Larson, who lives in Minnesota. The eldest child died at the age of two years, and the husband also preceded his wife to the Great Beyond, passing away October 23, 1893.
Mrs. Larson was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Denmark when 14 years of age. Twenty-eight years ago she moved to America and has lived most of the time since in Iowa. Among those in this vicinity who have known her long and well she is known as a true Christian woman, a kind mother and a good friend, and all sincerely mourn her loss.
