Mrs. Anfin Holm Passed Away

After bein seriously sick about a week or ten days, Mrs. Anfin Holm, whose health has been failing gradually for over a year past, passed away at her home on the farm just east of Jewell, at eleven o'clock Saturday forenoon, April 10th. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 12:30 at the home and at 1:15 at Bethesda Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Norstad. A quartet composed of E. W. Knudson, S. L. Ostrem, Miss Emma Nelson, and Miss Emma Knudson, sang. Pall bearers were H. O. Sexe, J. J. Haerem, John Stueland, S. Stenerson, T. Driftland and O. Ostrem. The body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery in Jewell. The funeral services were attended by a large crowd of friends of the deceased and floral offerings were many and beautiful.

Anna Bjorgen was born in Sveen parish, Norway, January 30, 1846, and died April 10, 1915, aged 69 years, 2 months and 11 days. She was married to Mr. Anfin Holm, of Vikebygd, Norway, in 1874. They emigrated to America in 1876, settling in Story county on July 4th of that year, where they lived 5 years, then moved to the farm near Jewel where deceased has lived 33 years until her death.

Her husband died about two years ago, and one child had also preceded her in death. Three children survive, Lewis Holm of Glenville, Minn., Mrs. Lars Rullestad of Detroit, Minn., and Mrs. S. O. Westre of Jewell. She is also survived by six grandchildren, one brother, Peter Bjorgen, of Norway, a sister, Mrs. Siri Walen of Norway, and a sister, Mrs. Ole Hanson of Story City, as well as by hosts of friends in this neighborhood who have known and most highly esteemed her for many years.
