Anfin Holm Passes Away

Thursday last week, Feb. 6th, Mr. Anfin Holm passed away at his home just west of Jewell, death coming from cancer of the stomach, from which he had suffered for about two years. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Eastvold and Rev. Norstad, at one o'clock from the home and at two o'clock from Bethesda church, and the body was laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery.

Anfin Holm was born Jan. 28, 1846,, in Vikebygd, Norway, being 67 years, 9 days of age at the time of his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hoversholm. As a child he was baptized and confirmed while still living in Norway. In 1874 he was married to Ann Bjorgen, of Vaestrand, Norway. To this union four children were born. The eldest son, Anfin, preceded the father to the Great Beyond, dying seventeen years ago. The surviving children are Lewis, Mrs. Lars Rullestad and Mrs. Severt Westre. For eight years Mr. Holm followed the vocation of a sailor. In 1876 with his wife he emigrated to America, locating in Story county where he lived five years. He then moved in 1882, to Hamilton county, locating on the farm 1 1/4 miles west of Jewell where he lived until his death, almost 31 years. During his long sickness Mr. Holm frequently expressed a desire for blessed rest, confessing Christ as his redeemer, and finally passing away in peace. He is survived by his wife, three children, two brother, Lars Holm of Roland, and N. J. Holm, of Gilbert, and two sisters, one living in Wyoming and one in Norway.
