Obituary of Andrew Anderson

Andrew Emanuel Anderson was born near Stavanger, Norway, March 8, 1856. He came to this country with his parents in 1866. He settled in Illinois and about four years later he moved on a farm in Hamilton county. In 1893 he married Carrie Madson. To this union were born six children: Mabel Amanda, who died in infancy; Mrs. Sam Oppedal, Mrs. Torkel Oppedal of Stanhope; Lyman of Camrose, Canada; Mrs. Carl Knudson of Ruthven, and Martin of DeSmit, S.D.

They moved to Stanhope in the fall of 1915 where they lived until his death. He had a stroke in December, 1927, and had failed in health ever since. He was not seriously ill, however, until two years after his stroke. He died on Tuesday afternoon, July 11. He leaves besides his immediate family, 21 grandchildren, one brother, Ole Anderson of Graettinger, and other relatives.

Funeral service was held in Stanhope Friday, Rev. Oppedal officiating.
