Esther Wicks' Obituary

Esther Ione Wicks was born near Roland, Iowa, June 23, 1921, and died at the Story City hospital July 19, 1933. She was at her death 12 years old.

Esther was next to the oldest of eight children belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Lars Wicks living on the O. S. Olson farm, 1 1/2 miles southeast of Randall.

A bursted appendix developing into gangrene cut short her young life. All medical care was given her but in vain.

Esther was a quiet and patient young girl. She had just finished the sixth grace in the public school. She regularly attended the Sunday school at Randall and she always knew her lessons well.

We all sympathize with the bereaved family and with them have the full assurance that she has gone home to her Savior.

She was buried from Elim church at Randall July 21, 1933, where Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated. Many of her relatives and friends were present and beautiful flowers decorated the casket. A quartet consisting of of Mrs. P. G. Peterson, Mrs. Clarence Larson, Mr. Ralph Okland and Rev. O. I. Rossing sang and appropriate song. A solo was sung by Adeline Paulsrud. Interment was made at the Roland cemetery. Pall bearers were Leslie Henderson, Harold Henryson, Albert Henryson, Arline Wicks, Virgil Twedt, Harold Carpenter. Honorary pall bearers were Ihline Henderson, Judith and Shirley Nordskog, Theoa Mortvedt, Marie Olson, Doris Mortvedt.

The sum of $12 was given in her memory to the Beloit Children's Home.
