Wednesday, February 15, 1978Mrs. Jemima Grover, 86, longtime Webster City area resident, died Tuesday morning at the Hamilton County hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks. She had been in ill health the past year.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Tom Waters officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Jemima Lacy, daughter of Charles and Martha Gibbs Lacy, was born June 20, 1892 in Hamilton county, where she was reared and educated in the rural schools. She also attended the Webster City schools.
On June 26, 1907 she was married to Asher Grover and the couple farmed north of Webster City for several years. Then they moved to Carlton, Minn., where they farmed 12 years, before returning to Webster City where Mr. Grover engaged in tiling work.
Mr. Grover preceded her in death in August, 1962 and she had since resided in Webster City.
She is survived by one son and four daughters: William Grover of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Mrs. Verle (Edith) Smith of Lehigh, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Jackson of Spray, Ore., Mrs. Clifford (Clara) Short of Hillsdale, Ill., and Mrs. LuVerne Craig of Fallon, Neb.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Maxwell (Effie) McCollough of Webster City and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter; her parents, one brother and four sisters.
