RITES HELD FOR MRS. KINKENNON March 18,1950
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah P. Kinkennon, former resident of this community, whose death occurred last Wednesday at the Kaska nursing home in Panora Christian church. The pastor, the Rev. Chauncey Piety, conducted the services
Hymns were sung by The Rev. Rex W. Turner,minster of the Christian church at Scranton, with Mrs. Paul Rote as accompanist. The selections: " Going Dow the Valley", " No Sorrow In Heaven" and " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".
The casket bearers: D.L. Sheets and Claude and Earl Bonker of Panora, and Walter,Virgil and Ivyl Slaybaugh of Guthrie Center. Burial was in West Cemetery.
Sarah P Whited was born in Warren County,Iowa, April 4,1863, and died March 15,1950 at Stuart,Iowa at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 11 days.
On Jan 3,1881 she was united in marriage to Levi KinKennon. Eleven children were born to this union. Her husband passed away in 1937, and two daughters and two sons have preceded her in death
The seven children left to mourn her passing are: Mrs. Phebe Still of Afton; Mrs. Daisy Blanchard, Mrs. Nora Recoy and Tom KinKennon of Creston; Mrs. Nettie Hafner and Ben KinKennon of Guthrie Center; and Frank KinKennon of Scranton. She also leave 62 grandchildren, 137 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren; and one brother, Tom Whited, of Alexandria, S.Dak.
Mrs. Kinkennon united with the Christian church in Panora in 1913.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a good friend to all who new her.
