Marvin J. Connolly, 76, of 253 Union St., died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Placid, Iowa, where a flag presentation will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. to-day at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Connolly was a truck driver for Flynn Ready Mix Co., for 35 years, retiring in 1992.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1930, in Epworth, Iowa, son of William and Mary (Anthoine) Connolly. He was born and raised in Epworth.

He graduated from Peosta (Iowa) High School.

He married Betty Miller on June 27, 1953, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 421, and the Knights of Columbus Council 5513.

Marvin loved spending time with his family and enjoyed gardening and watching the Chicago Cubs.

Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Dubuque; his children, Dave (Joyce) Connolly, of River Falls, Wis., Don Connolly, Kathy (Joe) Lent, Amy (Albert) Weidenbacher and Matthew (Spring) Connolly, all of Dubuque, Alan (Tricia) Connolly, of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Ann (Matt) Hubble, of West Des Moines; his grandchildren, Brett, Troy and Tara Connolly, Benjamin, Jennifer and Kristin Lent, Logan and Leslie Connolly, Nicholas and Michael Weidenbacher and Kelsey and Luke Hubble; his brothers, Bert (Marion) Connolly, of Dubuque, and Frank Connolly, of Epworth; his sister, Loyola Wagner, of Dubuque; and his sister-in-law, Mary Miller, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve; his parents; his father and mother-in-law, William and Marcella (Latimer) Miller; his brothers and sisters, Marie and Martin Huber, Merlin and Jean Connolly, Joe and Ruth Connolly and Lorraine Connolly; and his in-laws, William and Lorraine Miller, Joseph Miller, Mary and Frank Dardis, Clem Wagner, Leola Connolly and Ardella Connolly.

A Marvin J. Connolly Memorial Fund has been established.
