Allan A. Less, 58, of 1790 Alta Place, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Sunnycrest Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with the Rev. Mark Ressler officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Placid. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1952, in Dubuque, son of Andrew T. and Loretta A. (McDermott) Less. He graduated from Wahlert High School in 1971.

He married Donna Jean Pothoff in 1980 at St. Anthony's Church in Dubuque.

He worked for Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque for many years until heath issues forced his retirement. He also worked part-time for the Dubuque Park and Recreation Department at Eagle Point Park, and as an umpire, referee and coach for many ballgames for Little League and Independent League.

He was an avid sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; two sons, Keith and Anthony, both of Dubuque; his uncle, Jim McDermott, of Epworth, Iowa; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, in infancy.
