Helen E. Soppe, 87, of the Guttenberg (Iowa) Care Facility, formerly of 1675 Ohio St., Dubuque, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at the care facility.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1912, in Ossian, Iowa, son of Herman and Elizabeth (Brimcks) Remke. He married Florian "Shorty" Soppe on Jan. 30, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa; he died on July 26, 1967.

She spent her time as a housewife.

Surviving are four sons, Daniel (Ruth) Soppe, of Savanna, Ill., Ronald (Kathy) Soppe, of Graf, Iowa, Gary (Barb) Soppe, of Dubuque, and Dennis (Kathy) Soppe, of Bankston; a daughter, Judy (Jim) Naber, of Dyersville, Iowa; a brother, Anthony "Tony" (Louise) Remke, of Davenport, Iowa; two sisters, Sister Carmella Remke, of Holy Family Hall, and Tillie Mishak, of Portland, Ore.; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Ann; two great-grandchildren, Carrie and Eric; a daughter-in-law, Alice; a brother, John; and four sisters, Rose, Clara, Regina and Emma.
