BANKSTON, Iowa -- Eleanor A. Ritt, 90, of 14647 Jewitt Road, Bankston, (Epworth) died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 3 to 8:30 p.m., today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in La Motte, daughter of James and Catherine (Weber) Winders. She received her education at St. Catherine's School, La Motte.

She married Edwin J. Ritt on July 6, 1944, at St. Theresa's Church, La Motte; he preceded her in death on June 19, 1984.

The couple farmed in rural Bankston. Eleanor was later employed at Ertl's in Dyersville for 15 years.

She was a member of St. Clement's Parish, Bankston, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.

Eleanor loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, her flower gardens and garden. She loved her pug dogs, especially, Maggie. Eleanor was a collector of dolls, chicken statues and cook books.

Surviving are six children, Marvin (Mary) Ritt, of Dubuque, Jerry Ritt, of Dyersville, Roger (Darlene) Ritt, of Bankston, Shirley (Leon) Schmitt, of Farley, Barbara (Ron) Bossard, of Elkader, and Bill Ritt, of Bankston; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Jarding; and four siblings, Vincent Winders, Flossie (Fred) Schilling, Mildred (Ignatius) Kircher and Eldon (Margaret) Winders.
