DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Mary M. Thier, 79, of Dyersville, formerly of Bankston, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at her son's home in Dallas.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on June 18, 1930, in Bankston, daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth A. (Schmitt) Neumann. She received her education in the former St. Clement's School in Bankston.

She married Donald J. Thier on Nov. 20, 1956, at St. Clement's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on May 6, 2006.

Mary was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Thier and Ken Thier, both of Dallas; two daughters, Marilyn Thier, of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Sharon (Jim) Dolphin, of Conrad; and three grandsons, Jace, Chad and Troy Dolphin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lawrence Neumann.
