Mary Ann Winter, 81, of 3485 Windsor Ave., Dubuque, formerly of Bankston, Iowa, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Bankston. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 6:45 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1928, in Rickardsville, Iowa, daughter of John and Cecelia (Gerner) Stoffel. She married Cletus Winter on Oct. 3, 1950, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville; he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2004.

Mary was employed as a clerk at the former Roshek's Department Store.

She was a member of St. Clement's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are four sons, Del (Kathy) Winter, of Madison, Wis., Duane (Barb) Winter, of Peosta, Iowa, and Steve (Lois) Winter and Darrell (Melissa) Winter, both of Marion, Iowa; two daughters, Sharon (Michael) Tillar, of Richmond, Va., and Debbie (Philip) McMorran, of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Stoffel and Elmer Stoffel, both of Rickardsville; and a sister, Helen Mae Stoffel, of Rickardsville.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Paul Stoffel; and two sisters, Corrine and Delores Stoffel.
