Cecelia Winter, 80, of ManorCare Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 1676 Jackson St., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at the center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque, with burial in St. Clement Church Cemetery, Bankston, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1917, in Bankston, daughter of Peter and Irene (Potts) Winter.
She graduated from St. Clement's High School, Bankston, and attended the former Bayless Business College, Dubuque. Before moving to Dubuque, she managed the Bankston Store, which her parents owned. She then was employed at Jim Renier TV, Stereo and Music Co. for 35 years as a bookkeeper and head of the record department.
She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and its rosary society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a supporter of the Salvation Army.
Surviving are her brothers, Sylvester (Evelyn) Winter and Cletus (Mary Ann) Winter, both of Bankston; a sister, Norma Jean Winter-Smith, of Dubuque; 18 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, a Cecelia Winter Memorial Fund has been established.
