Lucille H. Laughlin, 97, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 810 Ramona St., died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, with burial in Assumption Cemetery, Sylvia Switch, rural Zwingle, Iowa. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish wake service at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Laughlin farmed with her husband near Zwingle, until they retired, moving back to Dubuque in 1968. She worked for a time at Mount Carmel Infirmary.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1900, in Key West, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Henrietta (Picray) Dimmer. She married Irvin J. Laughlin on March 31, 1921; he died on May 22, 1969.

Lucille was well-known for her cooking and sewing skills. She enjoyed her family and friends. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Columbkille's Parish, and its rosary society.

Surviving are two daughters, Helen Powers and Darlene (Donald) Kamm, both of Dubuque; three sons, Justin (Rosetta) Laughlin, of Maquoketa, Iowa, Joseph (Doris) Laughlin, of Zwingle, and Allen (Lois) Laughlin, of Epworth, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Mae Laughlin, of Dubuque; and 27 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Laughlin, on Oct. 18, 1988; a son-in-law, William J. Powers, on Nov. 16, 1990; four grandchildren; five brothers; and two sisters.

A Lucille H. Laughlin Memorial Fund has been established.
