Anne Lammer, 87, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. She had just returned from six weeks in Florida when a sudden illness caused her passing.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery Silvia Switch. Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where a vigil service will be held at 3:00 p.m.

Anne was born on February 28, 1928, in Bernard, Iowa, the oldest child of eight children born to James and Marion (Slattery) Lyons. She grew up on the family farm and, in 1948, married Ben Lammer. Anne began her teaching career in one-room school houses in Dubuque County and later taught at both Audubon and Kennedy Schools in Dubuque until her retirement in 1993.

After retiring, she kept busy with her many activities. She was an active member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church. She was a local election worker and volunteered at the Dubuque Arboretum, the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Resale Shop. Her passion for these groups will be continued through her memorial donations.

She was the loving mother of Diane (Mike) Kutsch, of Wichita, KS; Dr. Edward Lammer (Dibsy Machta), of Berkeley, CA; Richard Lammer, of Martinez, CA; Susie (Tom) Orr, of Dubuque; Peggy (Nels) Satterlund, of Loomis, CA; and Pat (Cheryl) Lammer, of Davie, FL. She had six grandchildren Brian and Tim Kutsch, Aaron and Ellie Lammer, and Britta and Andrea Satterlund and her siblings Jack (Helen) Lyons, Gerry (Kathy) Lyons, Jane (Dave) Boffeli, Joe (Barb) Lyons, all of the Dubuque area, Ray (Sandy) Lyons, of Kingman AZ, and Linda (Bill) Mullinex, of Marion, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Lammer; her parents, James and Marion Lyons; and her brother, Bob Lyons, of Maquoketa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Anne's favorite causes.
