ZWINGLE, Iowa - Eugene J. Kutsch, 65, of 14617 Washington Mills Road, Zwingle, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Church, Sylvia Switch, rural Zwingle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be the parish wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Kutsch formerly farmed in the Zwingle area. For the past 20 years, he delivered the Telegraph Herald newspaper in the Zwingle area, retiring in August 2002.

He was born on Sept. 24, 1937, in Dubuque, son of Edward J. and Irma J. (Knabel) Kutsch.

Eugene was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School, La Motte. He was a member of Assumption Parish, Sylvia Switch, rural Zwingle.

He was instrumental in starting the Zwingle Athletic Association and currently was on the Board of Directors. Eugene enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He also was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.

Surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth L. "Betty" Kutsch, of Zwingle, Karen R. (Norman) Knockel, of Bernard, and Sue A. Kutsch, of Clinton; and nieces and nephews, Donna Jobgen, Tony and Sarah Knockel and Andre Kutsch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Madonna Kutsch.

A Eugene J. Kutsch Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Whalen and the nurses and staff at Tri-State Dialysis for their care and concern for Eugene.
