Elvira M. Kutsch, 88, of 3485 Windsor Ave., died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 8 p.m.

Mrs. Kutsch worked as a cook for the Dubuque Community School System at Jefferson Junior High School retiring in 1984.

She was born on May 18, 1917, in St. Donatus, Iowa, daughter of Jacob and Emma (Bonifas) Heinricy. She married Albert Kutsch on Sept. 30, 1950, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1981.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish.

Surviving are a son, Thomas (Gail) Kutsch, of Dubuque; a daughter, Dolores "Dee" Maahs, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Carolyn (Dave) Young and Kristin Kutsch; a sister, Dorothy (Maurice) Lampe, of Dubuque; two sisters-in-law, Rita Kutsch and Viola Heinricy; and a brother-in-law, Harold Shanks.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arthur, Julius and Roman; three sisters, Gertrude Theisen, Dolores Heinricy and Beatrice Hoffmann; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Heinricy, Eleanor Walser and Verna Shanks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Stonehill Care Center and St. Montfort Haiti Fund.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Stonehill Care Center for their years of compassionate and loving care for Elvira. Thanks also to the caring nurses of Hospice of Dubuque.
