Vivian L. Kutsch, 87, of Sunset Park Place, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital, of natural causes.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2917 Central Ave., with the Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate Vivian's life, friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 3 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1925, in Epworth, Iowa, daughter of Robert and Nettie (Duart) Allen. Vivian grew up in Epworth before moving to Dubuque.

She married Harold Kutsch on June 22, 1946, in Sherrill, Iowa; he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2005.

Vivian was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church and John Deere Retirees Auxiliary.

Vivian worked for Dubuque Community Schools in housekeeping at the Forum.

She loved quilting, bowling, fishing and Hawkeyes basketball. Everything she made was from scratch. She was very proud of her pie crust. Vivian had a green thumb and could grow anything.

Surviving are her children, Sheila (Doug) Kruser and Donna (Jeff) Phillips, both of Dubuque, Jolene (Doug) Wareham, of Asbury, Iowa, Janelle Kutsch, of Dubuque, Robert (Jan) Kutsch, of Lakeland, Fla., and William Kutsch, John Kutsch, Melvin Kutsch and Marvin (Nancy) Kutsch, all of Dubuque; her 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Dorene McCarthy and Edward (Janet) Allen, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ann Marie, in 1969; a son, Allan, in 1979; four sisters, Nevada Heacock, Jessie Thompson, Madaline Ries and Elizabeth Allen; and a brother, Garland Allen.

A Vivian L. Kutsch Memorial Fund has been established.
