Richard E. "Dick" Kutsch, age 92, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully at 3:24 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.

To honor Dick's life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 2001 Saint Joseph Street, with Rev. Gabriel C. Anderson officiating. To celebrate Dick's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post #6.

Dick was born on May 23, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Clement and Clara (Neises) Kutsch.

Dick gallantly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. After the war, he returned home to Dubuque and was united in marriage to Lorraine "Larry" Lange in February of 1951. Lorraine preceded him in death after 35 wonderful years together on December 31, 1986. Dick owned and operated Kutsch Oil Company for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, a life member of the D.A.V. and a past member of the American Legion Dubuque Post #6. Dick was an avid fisherman, from local fishing to salmon fishing in Wisconsin and Michigan and Halibet fishing in Alaska. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who visibly role modeled his faith for all to witness. Dick never met a challenge he couldn't conquer or a friend he wouldn't help during his 92 years here with us. He will be greatly missed, and treasured always, by all who knew and loved him.

Dick is survived by his three children, Michael (Diane) Kutsch, Wichita, KS, Patrick (Shellie) Kutsch, Dubuque, IA, and Julie (Monty) Sheckles, Dubuque, IA; his seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bernard "Red" (Adie) Kutsch, Bellevue, IA, Clara Kubitz, Dubuque, IA and Bernice Niensteadt, Dubuque, IA; and his sister-in-law, Marie Kutsch, Dubuque, IA.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lorraine Kutsch; three brothers, Francis (Delila) Kutsch, Walter Kutsch and Harold (Vivian) Kutsch; and two brothers-in-law, Justin Niensteadt and Henry Kubitz.

In lieu of flowers, a Richard E. "Dick" Kutsch memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ringold, the nurses and staff at Tri-State Dialysis and Hospice of Dubuque for the ever loving and professional care they provided Richard.

Online condolences may be left for the family at behr funeralhome.com.
