Delila Lucille Kutsch, 69, of 14018 Sherrill Road, was called home to heaven by the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at home, with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, Iowa. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 26, 1935, in Balltown, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Myrtle (Oberfoell) Duehr. She married Francis J. Kutsch on Sept. 21, 1954, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Balltown; he passed away on April 23, 2000.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put others' joy and happiness before her own.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking and fishing, especially the fishing trips she and Francis made each year to Minnesota.

Delila spent her life making the world around her a better place; the memories of her kindness and caring heart will live on in those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are seven children, Steven H. (Cindy Rolwes) Kutsch, of Balltown, Delbert W. "Bert" Kutsch and Jerome B. (Sharon Koltes) Kutsch, both of Sherrill, and Connie S. Klein Kutsch, Jeffery Kutsch, Gregory H. (Sheree Dalbkermeyer) Kutsch and Vincent J. (Christina "Tina" McDonald) Kutsch, all of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Stephanie and Brian Kutsch, Tracy and Kellie Klein, Jason and Melissa Kutsch, Nathan, Nicole and Michael Kutsch and Lacey Kutsch; a great-grandson, William Francis Kutsch; a sister, Mary Koster, of Dubuque; two sisters-in-law, Mary Duehr, of Balltown, and Betty Duehr, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, Mark and John; five brothers, Henry "Hank," Clarence, Benjamin, Lawrence (Grace) and Lavern Duehr; and a brother-in-law, Benjamin Koster.

A Delila Lucille Kutsch Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Darlene and Sheila for all the time spent and help with Mom and also Hospice of Dubuque, especially Karen and Rose.
