Harold W. Kutsch, 84, of 3352 Foothill Road, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Kutsch was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for 36 years, prior to retiring.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1920, in Dubuque, son of Clemens and Clara (Neises) Kutsch. He married Vivian L. Allen on June 22, 1946, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, Iowa.

He served with the Army Air Force during World War II as an aircraft mechanic, serving in Texas.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and its Rosary Society, the John Deere Retirees and the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6.

He was an accomplished woodworker and very much enjoyed "making sawdust." He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting and "going fishing."

Surviving are his wife, Vivian L. Kutsch; four daughters, Sheila (Doug) Kruser, Donna (Jeff) Phillips and Janelle Kutsch, all of Dubuque, and Jolene (Doug) Wareham, of Asbury, Iowa; five sons, Robert (Jan) Kutsch, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., William Kutsch, John Kutsch and Marvin (Nancy) Kutsch, all of Dubuque, and Melvin Kutsch, of Rockford, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two sisters, Bernice (Justin) Niensteadt and Clara (Henry) Kubitz, both of Dubuque; three brothers, Walter (Marie) Kutsch, of Sherrill, Richard Kutsch, of Dubuque, and Bernard (Adeline) Kutsch, of St. Donatus, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie, in 1969; a son, Allan, in 1979; a brother, Francis Kutsch; and two sisters-in-law, Delila and Lorraine Kutsch.

A Harold W. Kutsch Memorial Fund has been established.
