Walter M. Kutsch, 90, of 2700 Matthew John Drive, No. 212, Dubuque, formerly of Sherrill, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at home.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, with the Rev. Ray Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Walter was born on Sept. 12, 1921, in Dubuque, son of Clem and Clara (Nieses) Kutsch. He married Marie Behnke on Aug. 21, 1946, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill.

He spent more than 40 years farming. He retired in 1985 and spent his remaining years enjoying woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

Walter will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Marie, of 65½ years; his children, Kathy (Gary) Davis, of Dubuque, Janet Kuhle, of Portland, Ore., Dennis (Sandy) Kutsch, of Dubuque, MaryAnn (Don) Davis, of Sherrill, Dave (Dee) Kutsch, of Dubuque, Rita Kutsch, of Sherrill, Dan (Sherrie) Kutsch, of Dubuque, Dale Kutsch, of Prescott, Ariz., Don (Rebecca) Kutsch, of Maquoketa, Iowa, Duane (Angie) Kutsch, of Dubuque, and Mark (Lynn) Kutsch, of Sherrill; two sisters, Bernice Niensteadt and Clara (Henry) Kubitz; two brothers, Richard Kutsch and Bernard (Addie) Kutsch; 31 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Bob Kuhle; a great-grandson; two brothers, Harold and Francis; and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Delila Kutsch.

Memorials may be given to the Walter Kutsch Memorial Fund.
