Dan M. Atchison, 68, of 5104 Pelican Drive, formerly of East Dubuque, Ill., died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at the Finley Hospital, Dubuque, following a short battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Grand View United Methodist Church, with Pastor James Dotson officiating. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on April 8, 1940, in Dubuque, son of Fieldon and Christina (Hazer) Atchison. He married Eileen Pothoff on July 15, 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen; three daughters, Christine "Crissy" (Steve) Cosci, Jeanne (John) Hannan and Lisa (James) Meisenburg; three sons, Dan (Karrie) Atchison Jr., David Husemann and Kelly Husemann; many grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; brothers and sisters, David "Man" Atchison, Fieldon "Bubbles" (Mary Jo) Atchison, Kathleen Grimme, Marie Lorenz and Susan Lane; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron (Betty) Pothoff, Al (Katie) Pothoff, Frank (Jayne) Pothoff, Jan Grady, Donna (Al) Less and Sandy (Kevin) Ehlers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Genevieve Meyer and Lucille Atchison; and brothers-in-law, James Sullivan, Elmer Meyer and Clarence Grimme.

In lieu of flowers, a Dan M. Atchison Memorial Fund has been established.
