Larry L. Broeg

Larry Lee Broeg, 49, of Osage Beach, Mo., a Mount Pleasant businessman, died early Friday, May 4, 1990, in Moline, Ill., of a suspected heart attack.

Born Feb. 4, 1941, at Burlington, he was the son of Edward and Mabel Henning Broeg. He married Diana G. Swanson Oct. 8, 1961, at Burlington.

He founded and owned Broeg and Associates resort management and Marketing services firm, Mount Pleasant, for the last 10 years. He had worked at Metromail Inc., Mount Pleasant, as a vice-president of sales for the Western division. He had worked at Midwest Biscuit Co., Burlington. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Burlington; the Iowa Wesleyan College and Southeastern Community College booster clubs; the American Aircraft and Pilots' Association; the Graphic Communications Association; the Third Class Mail Association; and was a social member of the Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club. He also participated in the Variety Club of Iowa.

Surviving are his mother, Burlington; two sons, Jeffrey P. Broeg, Mount Pleasant, and Kurtis E. Broeg, Iowa City; two brothers, Edward Broeg, Burlington, and John Broeg, Anderson, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Eileen Meck, Burlington; one grandson; and two step-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at noon tomorrow at the Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, Mount Pleasant, with burial to follow at 2 p.m. in the Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.

A memorial has been established to the Variety Club of Iowa.
