David A. Scott

David A. Scott, 68, of Burlington, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at his residence.
Born January 26, 1953 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Chester A. and Margaret Marna (Mills) Scott. He married Helen Mark December 21, 1973, they later divorced. On May 3, 2018 he married Marcia Deets Korb.

David graduated from Notre Dame in 1971. He earned a business degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. David worked for J.I. Case for 35 years. He was a certified TIG welder-submarine grade. He owned and operated his own company, Scotty’s Building and Remodeling.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish where he attended St. Paul Catholic Church and sang in the choir. He was past treasurer for BHS Music Boosters, a scout leader, a member of S.E. Iowa Symphony Orchestra, S.E. Iowa Band, Bel Canto Choir, and Burlington Municipal Band where he served as treasurer & board member. He was passionate about music and the arts.

David enjoyed camping, traveling, cigars, and riding motorcycles. He built, refurbished, and remodeled many homes and projects. He brought unique vision and detail to each one. He enjoyed cooking, and made amazing crepes and deviled eggs. He loved sharing all of these things with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Marcia Korb, children; Tony (Joanna) Scott of West Burlington, Mark Scott and step-son, Pete Korb, both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Nolan and Nicholas Scott; brother Kenton M. (Sandy) Scott of Punxsutawney, PA; sisters, Sherrill A. (Walter) Ertz of Cedar Falls, IA and Christine K. (Roger) Callaway of Des Moines, IA; and sister-in-law, Cam Scott of Withee, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gregory K. Scott.

The memorial visitation for Mr. Scott will be 10:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday March 27th at Lunning Chapel. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A private family inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kingston.

According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.

Memorials have been established for the S.E. Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the Burlington Municipal Band.
