Pearl Burgess

Pearl S. Burgess, 89, formerly of 421 E. Wheeler St., West Burlington, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday, April 19, 1993, at the Elm View Care Center.

Born May 13, 1903, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Frederick and Rosa H. Pietzsch Schmidt.

She was a licensed practical nurse in the maternity ward of the St. Francis Hospital and operated a nursing home until retiring. She was a member of the Non-Denominational Congregation.

Survivors include two sons, John L. Burgess of Fort Madison, and Duane C. "Bud" Burgess of Burlington; one sister, Emma Grahm of Davenport; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, five brothers and a sister.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Mrs. Burgess will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel with Dale Spencer and Loren Spellman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, West Burlington.
