Hope M. Van Osdol

Hope M. Van Osdol, 93, formerly of 900 Pine St., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1992, at the Klein Unit of Burlington Medical Center.

Born Feb. 22, 1898, in New London, she was the daughter of John and Ollie Coad Sawtell. She married John Van Osdol in Danville on Dec. 25, 1922

Mrs. Van Osdol attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and taught elementary school in Hillsboro. She was a member of the first United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was a former member of the Burlington Gidden Camp.

Survivors include a son, John Wesley Van Osdol of Cincinnati, Ohio; four daughters, Doris Green of Athens, Ohio, Dorothy Cole of New London, Dolly England of West Burlington, and Delores Plummer of Burlington, one sister, Helen Nelson of Mediapolis; two brothers, Chase Sawtell of San Dimas, Calif., and Wayne Sawtell of Palisade, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the first United Methodist Church.

The funeral for Mrs. Van Osdol will be at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Sheagren Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
