Marjorie McCandless

Marjorie V. McCandless, 73, of Burlington, formerly of Moab, Utah, died at Community Care Center of Mediapolis.

Born in rural Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Charley and Eva M. Bailey Walker. On Sept. 30, 1951, she married Herbert C. McCandless in Kingston.

Mrs. McCandless graduated from Huron High School in rural Kingston and was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. of Burlington.

She was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and attended Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church in Burlington.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Melinda Moore of Wapello and Marti McCandless and Meri Lipper, both of Burlington; two sons, Michael McCandless and Monte McCandless, both of West Burlington; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Crow of Mediapolis and Ethel Brown of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. McCandless will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Maurice Moore officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Kingston United Methodist Church and Sunnyside Avenue Baptis Church.
