Helen B. Anderson, 97, of Sperry, died at 10:49 a.m. Monday, February, 8, 2021 at Great River Hospice House.

Born December 20, 1923, she was the daughter of John Everett and Clara (Miller) Howe. She married Orville F. Anderson January 24, 1948 in Burlington. He died October 7, 2004.

Helen was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and Des Moines County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing checkers, playing Canasta, and tending to her sizeable garden. She was always ready to help out by bringing lunch out to the fields, and in her younger years, driving tractors to the fields and helping with harvest.

Survivors include son Gary (Karen) Anderson of Mediapolis; grandchildren, John Anderson of Sperry, IA and Lynne (Brandon) Marquardt of Wapello, IA; and great-granddaughter, Alivia Marquardt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Lyman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Helen has deeded her body to the University of Iowa for medical research.
