Robert J. Wagler

Robert J. Wagler, 77, of 13475 65th Ave., Burlington, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 1995, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.

Born Feb. 3, 1918, in rural Wapello, he was the son of Christian and Mary Huber Wagler. On July 13, 195, he married Elsie B. Graham Turley in Burlington.

Mr. Wagler served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He had been a railway mail clerk for 15 years and a government inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 12 years.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, VFW Post 7768 in Zapata, Texas, American Legion, Burlington Eagles Club and the Mail Clerk Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Graveside services for Mr. Wagler will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Barrie Tritle officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 10102.

A memorial has been established to VA Medical Center Hospice Program, Iowa City.
