Robert A. Bentler, 74, of Burlington, died at 3:05 AM Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center in Burlington.

Born November 19, 1936, in Burlington, he was the son of William Edward and Frances Mary Ebert Bentler.

Bob worked at Production Inc. and Hope Haven.

He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed drawing, music, and loved playing cards.

Survivors include one sister, Rita Hasson of Burlington; two brothers, William Bentler of Burlington and Joe Bentler of Lincoln, NE, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Barbara Lemley, Mary Frances Clary, and Catherine "Kate" Adolphson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Bentler will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Anthony J. Herold as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen community room following the interment.

A memorial has been established to the Great River Hospice.
