Raliegh D. Herrald Jr., 66, of 711 Carriage Hill Drive, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at home.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Dyersville, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on March 20, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa, son of Raliegh Sr. and Genevieve (Thompson) Herrald. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon returning from military service, he earned his associate degree from Kirkwood Community College. Later, Raliegh completed a bachelor's degree from Clarke College.

He married Mary Lammers on Nov. 25, 1967, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Raliegh worked as a computer analyst at John Deere Dubuque Works.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He also was very active with the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a volunteer for over 30 years earning numerous awards and recognition.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Herrald, of Dubuque; three children, Elizabeth (Scott) Putnam, of Dubuque, and their children, Paige and Kate, David (Kristine) Herrald, of Thornton, Colo., and their children, Audrey, Ellen and Erin and Christopher (Jolyne) Herrald, of Dubuque, and their daughter, Bailey; four siblings, Linda (Mike) Cole, of Dubuque, Lary (Nancy) Herrald, of Oregon, Ill., Lona (Don) Steuer, of El Cajon, Calif., and Mike Herrald, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, a Raliegh Herrald Memorial Fund has been established.
