David J. Reittinger, 1943-2007

WORTHINGTON, Iowa -
David J. Reittinger, 63, of 30342 E. Worthington Road, Worthington, died at 6:44 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Philip Kruse officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Reittinger was employed at the Ertl Co. in Dyersville for 31 years. He also farmed in the rural Worthington area.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1943, in Delhi, son of Emil and Lucille (Rolling) Reittinger. He received his education at the St. Francis Xavier School in Dyersville.

He married Luetta Koerperich on Oct. 5, 1963, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth. David was an avid Cubs, Packers and Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his visits to the area sale barns and casino.

He was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Worthington.

Surviving are his wife, Luetta Reittinger, of Worthington; three children, Gary (Natalie) Reittinger, of Dyersville, Mike Reittinger, of Elgin, Texas, and Michelle (Dustin) Mullett, of Worthington; five grandchildren, Brenton, Griffin, Max, Nate and Spencer; his mother, Lucille Reittinger, of Manchester; two brothers, Richard (Rosemary) Reittinger, of Dyersville, and Donald (Karen) Reittinger, of Delaware; and four sisters, Doris (Ray) Reth, of Manchester, Debra (Lee) Mescher, of Belle Plaine, Patricia Steger, of Dyersville, and Marilyn (Doug) Sharp, of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Reittinger; and a brother, Roger Reittinger.

A David J. Reittinger Memorial Fund has been established.
