DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Germaine M. Schlichte, 81, of Dyersville, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at home, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be an American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Schlichte was a homemaker and cooked for the Western Dubuque School System for 20 years.

She was born on March 18, 1923, in Dyersville, daughter of Frank and Cecelia (Meis) Olberding. She married Joseph Schlichte on Oct. 7, 1941, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Germaine enjoyed playing cards, cooking, watching ball games and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph, of Dyersville; a daughter, Lois (Roger) Klostermann, of Dyersville; a son, Marv (Mary) Schlichte, of Cedar Rapids; a son-in-law, Loras Rausch, of Dyersville; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gerald (Irma), Ray (Gen), Delbert (Marge) and Donald (Darlene) Olberding, two sisters, Catherine Griffin and Mercedes (Gilbert) Singsank, and a sister-in-law, Eileen Olberding, all of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Rausch, on May 30, 2003; and a brother, Robert Olberding.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque.
