Leta Mae Holtz

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. August 24, 2012 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Edgewood, Iowa, for Leta Mae (Kramer) Holtz, 87, of Edgewood, Iowa, who died at the Edgewood Convalescent Home on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Visitation was held from 2 to 7 p.m. August 23, 2012 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood, Iowa, with friends being able to call one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment was August 24, 2012 at St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery in Edgewood, Iowa.

Leta Mae (Kramer) Holtz was born in Earlville, Iowa, on August 9, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Olive (Hunt) Kramer. Leta was raised and educated in the area, and was a 1944 Earlville High School graduate.

On May 30, 1944, Leta was united in marriage to Edward Holtz at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville and they recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Together they farmed and lived near Manchester for 43 years. In 1986 they moved to Edgewood.

Leta enjoyed making cookies, playing cards, playing the accordion, and embroidery work.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Holtz of Edgewood; ten children, Jean Jasper of Cedar Falls, Janice (Ron) Boll of Dundee, Joyce (Dave) Wessel of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, Edward (Lauretta) Holtz of Naples, Florida, Joan (Kevin) Meyer of Stillwater, Minnesota, Dean (Debbie Coyle) Holtz of Delaware, Janine (Doug) Ehrler of Manchester, Steve (Penny) Holtz of Manchester, Julie (Steve) Mensen of Earlville, and Jeri Lynne (Bill) Nulty of West St. Paul, Minnesota; 36 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Mary (Wally) Wheeler of Earlville.

Leta was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Don Jasper; a granddaughter, Caitlin Nulty, her sister-and-brother-in-law, Ethel and Howard Scovel; and her brother-and sister-in-law, Bob and Arlene Kramer.
