Obituary of Margaret A. Phillips Dalrymple
Mrs. Margaret Phillips Dalrymple expired April 14, 1899 of heart failure at her residence 1412 Washington St. Seattle, Washington, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 4 days. She was born in Miami Co., Ohio, January 10, 1835 and came to Delaware county Iowa in 1855; was married to Isaiah Dalrymple, a brother of J. A. Dalrymple of this county, on the 20th day of November, 1856 by Rev. James Wright of Delhi, Iowa who became Secretary of State. She lived with her husband in Delhi township until 1865 when they sold their farm to Samuel Allison Sr. and then purchased a farm near Osage, Mitchell Co. Ia, and moved there the same year, living there until 1888 when they rented their farm and moved to Oroville CA for the benefit of her health. Not liking the location of the town or the country they moved to Seattle, Washington where they have since resided.
She joined the U. B. Church and on the 22th day of Jan., 1860 made a public profession of her faith in Christ by baptism. She lived and died in the triumph of living faith resigning perfectly to the will of Him who doeth all things well. She was the mother of eight children of whom all but three preceded her to that better land. She leaves a husband and three children, Mrs. Rose McBeth, Ezra W. and Lillie E. Dalrymple all of Seattle and one brother J. M. Phillips (married Nancy C Dalrymple) of Delhi and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. The funeral was held on the following Sunday, April 16th, 1899, and laid to rest in Lake View Cemetery, near Seattle. Our loss is her gain. We sorrow not even as others who have no hope. Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may center in through the gates into the city.
