Strawberry Point: Carl Clarence Hartwig was born March 23, 1899, at Rockwell City to Charles and Frederika Lembke Hartwig. He and Hazel Conner were married June 9, 1921, at Manchester.
Mr. Hartwig, 71, of Strawberry Point died Tuesday, Jan 12, at Mercy hospital in Oelwein after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Emanuel Lutheran church, with the Rev. Alfred Kaupins officiating. Burial was made in the local cemetery, with the Feeney funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Corinne) Theel and Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Chambers, both of Strawberry Point; a son, Wallace of Zephyrhills, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
