Rites Saturday For Robert Kennedy, 77, Lifetime Resident
Robert L. Kennedy, 77, lifetime Prairie township resident and farmer, died at Delaware County Memorial hospital Wednesday following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Bohnenkamp funeral home, with the Rev. F. Warren Shreve officiating. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery. Masonic memorial services will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert Luke, son of David and Sarah Scanlon Kennedy, was born June 9, 1893, in Prairie township. He attended rural schools and then engaged in farming. Mr. Kennedy was a member of the United Methodist church and Manchester Lodge No. 165 AF and AM.
He was married Sept. 14, 1921, to Margaret Barr in Prairie township.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Muriel (Bessie) Maurer of Manchester and Mrs. James (Berniece) Cocking of Earlville; two sons, Wesley Kennedy of Manchester and William Kennedy of Strawberry Point; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hall of Sioux City and Mrs. Thomas (Mabel) Irwin of Pierson, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David, two sisters and three brothers.
