Bernard Cocking
Bernard G. Cocking, 68, longtime resident of Delaware county, died Sunday at the Good Neighbors Home following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the First Baptist church, with the Revs. Clair Brown and Ron Youngs officiating. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery. The Bohnenkamp funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cocking, son of J. E. and Emily Hickson Cocking, was born Nov. 10, 1901, in Delaware county. He attended Delaware county rural school and the Manchester high school.
He was married Feb. 7, 1923, to Laura Hansen in the First Baptist parsonage. They farmed in the county and following their retirement they made their home in Arizona the past two years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Allyn (Jean) Carrothers and Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Hansel, both of Manchester; a son, Dr. Walter Cocking of Morton Grove, Ill.; nine grandchildren and one sister, Edyth Harvey of Victoria, Canada.
