Francis J. Brown
Francis J. Brown, 59, lifelong Delaware county resident died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday morning at his home. He had been despondent for some time.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's church in Manchester with burial in St. Mary's cemetery here. The Shelly funeral home was in charge of arrangements where the rosary was recited Monday evening.
Francis James, son of Albert James and Anna Minta Moran Brown, was born Jan. 25, 1911, on the parental farm northwest of Manchester. He grew to young manhood on the farm and received his education in the rural schools. Following his schooling he did farm work in this area and then engaged in farming.
He served in the U. S. Army in World War II and was a member of Manchester Post No. 45 of the American Legion. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's parish of Manchester.
After his return from Army service he farmed for a time and then engaged in carpentry work. The past several years he has been employed as a carpenter for the Cashway Lumber company in Manchester.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert J, Brown of 601 South Third street, Manchester; one sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Genevieve) Lally of Dysart; two nieces and one nephew and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
