Robert L. Condon, 72, lifetone resident of Manchester, died Friday at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo following a brief illness.
Mr. Condon was manager of the former A & P store here for 25 years. He was employed by the National Tea Store for four years and the Super Valu store for three years before retiring.
He was born March 21, 1896, at Manchester, son of Richard and Frances McMullen Condon. He received his education in the Manchester schools. Mr. Condon served as a school board member and a city council member. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the Knights of Pythias lodge.
Mr. Condon was married July 3, 1919, to Irmel Hopkins who died Aug. 4, 1939. He was married to Mary Mason Dec. 2, 1940.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Claude(Jean)Stone of Dunkerton; a son, Donald E. Condon of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. LeRoy (Marguerite) Goodrich and Mrs. Dorothy Fee of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Gill-Bohnenkamp funeral home with Rev. James Stroh, pastor of the Community Congregational church, officiating. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and on brother, William.
