Bernard F. Fuller, 68, longtime resident of the Masonville community, passed away Thursday at the U.S. Veterans hospital in Iowa City following a several months' illness.
Services for Mr. Fuller were held from the Shelly funeral home to Immaculate Conception church in Masonville at 9:30 a.m. Monday, where a high mass of requiem was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. M.J. O'Sullivan. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery at Masonville with Father O'Sullivan reading the graveside prayers followed by the Manchester Post No. 45 of the American Legion officiating at the graveside Military Honors for Mr. Fuller. The recitation of the rosary was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Shelly funeral home.
Bernard Francis, son of William and Mary Agnes Degnan Fuller, was born on Jan. 21, 1900, at Dubuque. He grew to young manhood in Dubuque and received his education in the schools of Dubuque. He worked in the Dubuque area for a time and later came to the Masonville community to make his home. He was married in 1923 to Julia Penney and they made their home in the Masonville area until they were divorced in 1927.
Mr. Fuller served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 until he received his honorable discharge from the service in 1945.
He is survived by a son, Clair Hoven of Sidney, Neb., by one grandson, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, William Fuller of Dubuque.
