Mrs. Christine Gradin, nee Berg, was born in Atmar, Medelpad, Sweden, 16 Oct 1853. She came to the United States in company with her twin sister, Anna, now Mrs. John Johnson of Sterling, Colo, June 1872.

She was married to Olaf Gradin 19 July 1874 and with him settled on the old homestead in Hayes township where she resided until her death 19 Jan 1933 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 3 days. The family union was blessed with six children, Alfred, Oliver, Kate (Mrs. John Peterson), Josie (Mrs. C. R. Osbeck), of Willmar, Minn., Ablann of Cylon, Wis, and Martha, who has tenderly cared for her during a long and lingering illness until she was celled to her heavenly home. Her husband proceeded her in 1916.

She leaves to mourn her departure six children, 12 grand children and one great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Ward of Isanti, Minn. and Mrs. John Johnson of Sterling, Colo. Other relatives and friends. Mrs. Gradin was of a quiet and unassuming disposition but in her quiet way she always took a deep interest in all neighborly, charitable and missionary interests in general and her donations were given with a glad heart.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Arthur Baptist church conducted by Rev. P. Lovene, interment was made in the Arthur cemetery.
