OBITUARY OF MRS.WILLIAM WARD, FORMER RESIDENT OF KIRON

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 2, at the South Isanti Baptist Church for Mrs. William Ward of Isanti. Her death occurred in a tragic accident Saturday morning while Mrs. Ward was tending a grass fire in her yard. When it became unruly she went into the house to get some water and mops with which to extinguish the flames, and coming out again, she tripped over a wire along the ground, falling so that her clothes caught fire, and before help came she was burned so badly that death came a short time later.

Mrs. Ward was born Margareta Sophia Berg 19 July 1860, in Attmar socken, Medelpad, Sweden. She came to this country with her parents in 1870 and settled in Kiron, Iowa. She was married in 1889 to John Hellgren of Kiron, whom she later lost through death. On 15 December 1926 she was married to William Ward of Isanti. She was a member of the South Isanti Baptist church.

Mrs. Ward leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and five stepchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The Reverend C. R. Osbeck of Wilmar was the principal speaker at the services. with Rev. Ernest G. Nelson of South Isanti officiating and Rev. S. G. Carlson of Cambridge, assisting. Mrs. Adar Olson and Willard Sundberg sang a duet and Gilbert Carlson sang a solo. Mrs. Roy Nelson was at the piano and Mrs. E. G. Nelson at the organ.

Honorary pallbearers were Mesdames J. R. Olson, Frank Fredeen, Anna Winlund, Albert Swanson, Oscar Okerstrom, Rudolph Ostrom. The active pallbearers were Messrs. Daniel Olson, Mat Noren, Rudolph Ostrom, Frank Fredeen, Thodore Swanson, and Gottfred Theline. Interment took place in the Isanti cemetery.

Attending from a distance were Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Osbeck of Willmar, Mrs. John Peterson of Arthur, Iowa, Herbert Ward of Kiron, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Ward of East Grand Forks, Mrs. Beda Halvarson of Kerkhoven, Emil Hultander of Elbow Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Snare of Buffalo, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Swing of Anoka.
